Today Steve picked up his spankingly new apple iPhone. A new fun toy to spend hours playing with!
Tonight Jen got very very erm, Tipsy! Jen's work colleague, Ruth, held leaving drinks at the local watering hole. Jen went home eventually, after 5 hours (and 5 vodkas). Meanwhile Dan and Elizabeth came around to stay the night. Dan cooked dinner, Steve supplied condiments, and simply kicked back and chatted until Jen came home (and amused them all).

Very early this morning, Steve rounded up Dan and Elizabeth, and headed out to the far side of Norwich to attend the Battle of Brothers SCA event.
Jen instead hung out with Edith and went to 'Freerange' together, a gallery display of graduating art students' works, on Brick Lane. It was a glorious, sunny, hot day. Here's a couple of photos from the exhibition:

At the SCA event, after a small hiccup in the first battle scenario, the side Steve was on was victorious, or rather "slayed them to the 4 winds". Steve was later asked to regale the day's exploits at the feast that evening.

Jen had a relaxing day, Steve came home, all is excellent in the universe.

Thu 08 July 2010
Tonight we won a bid on a second hand Ikea sofabed and also picked it up about a 20 minute drive from our home. Steve used his amazing tetris powers and managed to get the whole lot into the car as if it was made for it! So the large bedroom is now an office/library/spare guestroom. Here's the sofabed set up and Steve modelling his new iPhone all in the one shot:

We're really amazed at how wonderfully well the garden is going. Here, the dancing blueboy (vine) put in last year has completely taken off!

Sat 10 July 2010
Wow - the subtropics comes to London, it's reached 30 degrees! . That's fine on the streets, and it's still cool in the shade. On the underground though - that's a different (melty) scenario altogether!
Jen worked as a first aider at a work event this afternoon. Prevented a few people getting heatstroke, and treated one person showing signs of it. Glad to have packed ice in a big insulated freezer-bag.

Sun 11 July 2010
Today we went and saw the "once in a lifetime" exhibition at the British Museum: Italian Renaissance drawings. Many of the drawings are very fragile and usually not on display. A great collection from a variety of museums. It was really great.
Renaissance "drawing", it seems, involves prepared colour papers or vellum; plus coloured chalks, charcoal, silverpoint, ink and ink washes with a feather nib, and/or white lead actually painted on for the highlights, etc etc. Certainly, much fancier than the modern idea of just a bit of paper and pencil.... It's a fab exhibition, we recommend pepole go cough up the £12 and 2+ hours in air-con to enjoy some masterful art!

Later in the evening we enjoyed iceblocks in front of the telly, and have to say well done to Spain for winning the soccer.

Mon 12 July 2010
Tonight is the final night of oil painting for Jen, and she has completed the self portrait finally.

Thu 15 July 2010
Steve served up a pair of juicy thick steaks plus oven baked potatos - yum!

Fri 16 July 2010
After work, Jen's work colleague Llewellyn came around for dinner and for a "man date" with Steve, to show him the latest and greatest iPhone apps, and talk about how much they adore Apple products together.  :-)

Sat 17 July 2010
Steve took Jen out to see the newest Twilight movie, what a good hubby!

Mon 19 July 2010
Today Jen got the news her Uncle Alan lost his battle with cancer.
Although Jen wasn't close to him, our thoughts are with her family on the other side of the planet, dealing with the loss. Hugs to you all.

Wed 21 July 2010
Tonight Jen stayed back after work for a gallery opening event, standing in as a first aider. Thankfully everything went smoothly.
Tomorrow night Steve will be celebrating with workmates, at the end of another School year.
